Anton van Loon was the captain of the Dutch tug-of-war team at the 1920 Games, which also included his brother, Willem van Loon. Anton was one of the founders of the Achilles Krachtsportvereniging (Arnhem). Their team had won the Dutch trials and earned a spot at the Olympics. Losing only to Great Britain, they returned home with second place. In later life, Van Loon was a municipal official and pool attendant in Arnhem’s Rijnbad.
