Henry Brown was still at Dublin University when he was selected for the Irish team at the 1908 London Olympics. He partnered Walter Peterson at full-back in their first game, a 3-1 win over Wales. For the final match against England, however, he was replaced by Peterson’s brother Jack. England won 8-1. Brown later captained the Dublin University XI and represented Connaught in the inter-Provincial competition. He went on to win 22 Ireland caps.
