Rolf Stoltenberg played field hockey for THC Klipper Hamburg, winning the West German Championship in 1952. He participated in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where Germany lost to the Netherlands 0-1 in the quarter-final. His son Gunter also became a West Germany international in the 1970s.
