Biography

Keshav Dutt honed his field hockey skills at Lahore’s Government College University and, after playing nationally for several teams, was eventually selected as part of India’s international squad. He represented his country at two editions of the Olympics, in 1948 and 1952, winning gold medals both times. He was also selected for the 1956 Melbourne Games, but did not participate in any of the matches. He donated his 1948 gold medal to the Army Fund after the Indo-China War.

After his retirement from active competition, he took up roles in sports administration and was the manager of India’s field hockey delegation to the 1972 Munich Olympics, where the country earned a bronze medal. By career he worked for the government in the customs department, and was also athletically active in badminton.
