Biography

Dutch field hockey player Jan Veentjer began his career with HDM in Den Haag in 1957 as the team’s goalkeeper. By 1959 Veentjer made his senior début with the club where his talent soon earned him a place on the national team. From 1962 to 1965 he made 31 appearances for the Dutch national team including playing in the tournament at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Following his playing career Veentjer remained with HDM where he served three non-consecutive terms on the club’s board between 1956 and 1980. He later played in the occasional veteran’s match and worked as a goalkeeping coach for the women’s team.
