José Francisco Canevaro, Duke de Zoagli, was a Peruvian diplomat and statesman. His father was an Italian diplomat and José Francisco Canevaro opted for the same career, serving as a minister in several European capitals. Canevario served as a prior to the Court of the Congress of Lima and was a deputy in the Congress of the Republic of Peru. He became Peru’s second vice president in 1878. Canevaro died in Saint-Geours-de-Maremne, near Dax, in the Sud-Express train derailment in November 1900.
