Biography

Polish hockey player Józef Wybieralski spent his entire domestic career with Warta Poznań, winning nine outdoor titles and nine indoor titles with the club. Wybieralski had a lengthy career with the national team and played in 138 matches and scored 29 goals. He was part of the Polish team that competed in the hockey tournament at the 1972 München Olympics where they finished in 11th place. He also competed in two editions of the World Championships (1975, 1978), and three editions of the European Championships (1970, 1974, 1978). In 1975 Wybieralski was called up to play for the European national team playing in a match against France. Following his retirement from the sport he worked as referee and a coach.

Wybieralski’s brother Jerzy also played hockey for Poland at the Olympics, competing at the 1980 Moskva Games. His sons Krzysztof and Łukasz followed in their father’s footsteps and both played for Poland at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
