Biography

Kelli James played college hockey (field) at Old Dominion, where she led the Lady Monarchs to the NCAA title in 1988, 1990, and 1992. In 1992 James won the Honda Award as the nation’s top collegiate hockey player. That year she led the nation with 131 points and 59 assists.

James played for the US from 1990, winning three medals at the Pan American Games, a bronze in 1991 and silvers in 1995 and 1999. She competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 1994 and 1998 World Cups. She later earned a masters’ degree in corporate training and settled in Atlanta where she started her own business but then moved that business to Florida. James is a member of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, the Old Dominion Sports Hall of Fame, and the US Field Hockey Hall of Fame.
