Biography

Marcy Place-von Schottenstein attended college at UC Berkeley, graduating in 1981 with a degree in economics. She played hockey at Cal and made the US national team in 1980. Place-von Schottenstein played in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, winning a bronze in 1984, and won a silver medal at the 1987 Pan American Games. She also played at the 1983 and 1986 World Cups. In 1979 and 1980 Place-von Schottenstein was named the NorCal Conference scholar-athlete of the year.

After her playing career ended Place-von Schottenstein began work in commercial real estate. She spent 15 years with Coldwell-Banker and then moved on to work with Cornish & Carey in the TriValley area of California, in the eastern Bay Area. Place-von Schottenstein is a member of the US Field Hockey Hall of Fame and the University of California Athletic Hall of Fame.
