Biography

Natalia Clovis was born in Havana, Cuba, but emigrated to the United States in 1960. She made the 1972 Olympic team by placing second at the US Nationals, and was Pacific Coast Champion with foil that year. Clovis worked as an executive in the banking industry for 25 years, but developed a passion for painting and sculpture. She studied art in Europe for five years, and studied sculpture under Tony Lopez. In 1989 Clovis, then Natalia Lederer, moved to Tucson to pursue her dream of a career in art, where she worked as artistic director of the Larson Company.
