Biography

Denise O’Connor attended school at Jersey City State College, graduating in 1957. She competed for Salle Santelli, winning five Amateur Fencers League of America (AFLA) team foil titles. O’Connor fenced at five World Championships (1965-66, 1969-70, 1975), and the 1975 Pan American Games, winning individual silver and team bronze at the Pan Ams. O’Connor taught special education and coached fencing at Brooklyn College. In 1975-76 she was NIWFA College Coach of the Year.
