Biography

Jean Heeremans was an eight-time Belgian champion but after World War II he emigrated to the United States where he became the fencing coach at Southern Cal and the Los Angeles Athletic Club. In the US he changed his name and went by Heremans. In 1948 Heremans was hired by MGM to supervise the duels for their remake of “The Three Musketeers.” This led to a career in which he frequently choreographed duels and also appeared in several movies, often uncredited, including “The Three Musketeers,” “The Last Time I Saw Paris,” “Singing in the Rain,” and “Northwest Passage.”
