Pál Pajzs

Pál Pajzs began his sports career in the colors of BEAC, and from 1905 was with MAC, mainly in foil and sabre. In 1912, he won the individual national championship in sabre. In the same year, he started at the Stockholm Olympics in both foil and sabre.

Pajzs was a medical doctor practicing in Székesfehérvár from 1913. In 1919, at the time of the Communist Revolution, he was president of the Hungarian Radical Party, and thus was sentenced to five years prison in 1920. Moreover, his diploma had been invalidated and he could not continue his medical practice in Hungary. He spent 2½ years in jail and then moved, first to Yugoslavia and then to Indonesia, where he continued his career after obtaining a Dutch medical diploma. In 1947, he was rehabilitated by the Hungarian Medical Chamber. Pajzs spent the last years of his life in Lugano, Switzerland and died there.
