Biography

Indian-born Edward Deane was reserve cox to the Thames Rowing Club eight that represented Great Britain at the 1924 Paris Olympics. The following year, Deane coxed the Thames eight that beat Ibis to win the Junior Eights at the Richmond and Twickenham Regattas, and was also a member of the eight that beat Kingston to win the Thames Cup. In 1926 he helped Thames beat Molsesy to win the Thames Junior Eights Championship. Deane was also a fine sculler and reached the final of the Junior Dash for the Mead Cup at Putney, also in 1926. He also rowed pairs.
