Biography

William Worth was a cabinet maker and upholsterer who ran his own business, Worth and Smith, in the Bournemouth area. Worth was captain of the Bournemouth Fire Brigade at the 1900 Paris Olympics. He joined the service in 1872 and served as captain for 23 years. He also held a senior position in the Fire Brigade Union and was a former chairman of the Southern District Combination of Fire Brigades.
