Jéronimo Neto began his handball career as a player with Dínamos de Luanda before coaching teams in both his native Angola and in Portugal. In 1997 Neto became a member of the coaching staff for the Angolan national women’s team at the World Cup in Germany. He soon became the head coach of the side, with the team winning the African Championships in 2006 and 2008, and gold at the All-Africa Games in 2007. Neto also led the team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and the World Cups in 2005 and 2007.
