Thomas Jeter competed in foil for the US at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was a career military officer in the US Navy, serving as a pilot. A commanding officer on the USS Bunker Hill, during World War II he received the Legion of Merit for meritorious service during operations in the Pacific from March to June 1944
