Biography

Bulgarian football midfielder Dimitar Largov began his senior career with Septemvri Sofia in 1954 before joining Slavia Sofia in 1956. Largov then spent more than a decade with Slavia, playing in 220 matches and winning the Bulgarian Cup on three occasions (1962–63, 1963–64, and 1965–66). In May 1959 he made his début for the national team in a friendly against the Netherlands. One year later he was part of the squad that competed in the football tournament at the 1960 Roma Olympics.

Largov played in 17 matches for Bulgaria in the first two years of his international career before being dropped from the squad. Five years later, however, he was called back into the team for crucial qualifying matches for the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Bulgaria eventually qualified for the World Cup, with Largov making his last international appearance in their 3–1 defeat to Hungary in the group stage of the tournament.
