Biography

John Dodds played as a forward for Queen’s Park FC Glasgow, until recently strictly an amateur club. Between 1928-37 he played 191 League and 30 Cup matches for his club, scoring 141 goals. He also showed his striking abilities in 1935, when he scored three goals for Scotland in the game against the Welsh amateur team. In the 1936 Olympic tournament he played one match against China in the center forward position and scored the first British goal, which was the first goal for Great Britain by a non-Englishman.. For the second match against Poland he was a substitute.
