The career of Israeli football defender David Karako spanned almost 20 years, which saw him play at both the Olympics and the World Cup. Karako spent the first 12 years of his career with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, winning three league titles, four cups, and two Asian Championships. He then spent stints with Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Yehud before his retirement in 1982 due to an injury. Between 1968 and 1972 Karako also earned 12 caps with the Israel national team. In 1968 he competed at the Mexico City Olympics, with Israel being eliminated by a coin toss after their quarter-final match against Bulgaria ended in a draw. Two years later Karako returned to Mexico for the 1970 FIFA World Cup, but did not play in any matches. Following his retirement he spent the next 15 years as the manager of several domestic teams in Israel, including two stints with his former club Hapoel Yehud.
