Biography

Football goalkeeper Ferd Lahur played domestically for Progrès Niedercorn and represented the Luxembourg national team from the late 1940s until the late 1950s. Lahur made his international début in March 1949 in a friendly against Belgium, which Luxembourg lost 6–0. Despite his inauspicious start he remained in the national squad for the next decade, earning 28 caps and captaining the side in four matches. In 1952 Lahur was part of the team that competed at the Helsinki Olympics, where they won their 5–3 against Great Britain before losing 2–1 to Brazil. He continued playing for the rest of the decade, including a qualification match for the 1960 Roma Olympics against France in November 1959.
