Biography

Harry Smith was a soccer defender who played for the Lighthouse FC. He earned two caps with the US national team in 1928, the first in the US Olympic loss to Argentina, and the second in a friendly after the Olympics against Poland. Smith later became a teacher in the athletic department at Haverford School, near Philadelphia, for almost 30 years, and coached the soccer team there from 1948-77. He also was active with the Lighthouse Boys Club, was a member of the Old Timers Soccer Association, and was inducted into the Philadelphia Soccer Hall of Fame.
