Biography

Käte Sohnemann, a German gymnast from Hamburg, won the gold medal with the German team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The eight exercises were held outdoors in front of 20,000 spectators at Dietrich Eckart Stage, nowadays called Waldbühne. Individually she was placed third behind her team-mates Trudi Meyer and Erna Bürger, but no medals were awarded for the individual event. Sohnemann won the German Championship in 1937 and 1938.
