Biography

West German gymnast Jakob Kiefer participated at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He finished fourth in the all-around team event and finished 150th in the all-around individual competition. Four years later in Melbourne he finished fifth with the team and 42nd in the individual all-around. Kiefer won several German Championships, including six in 1950.

He became a co-founder of the Mittelrheinischer Turnverband and headed the sports department for several years. He made his living as a caretaker and museum guide in the Schlossparkmuseum and also in the Stadtarchiv (town archive) of Bad Kreuznach, where a sports and event hall was named after Kiefer. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1951.
