Biography

Center Andrea Bölk was a German handball player who was on the losing side in the third-place match at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, when Germany lost 24-20 to the Unified Team EUN. Four years later at Atlanta the team placed sixth. After reunification she won the gold medal at the 1993 World Championships and the silver medal at the Europeans the following year. Bölk won 201 international caps and scored 361 goals.

Domestically, Bölk played with TSG Wismar (1975-83) and SC Empor Rostock (1983-90), with whom she won the East German national title in 1989. She also played for Buxtehuder SV (1990-2000) and TV Oyten (2002-04). In 1994, she won the Euro-City-Cup with Buxtehude.

Andrea Bölk was the daughter of football (soccer) player Klaus-Peter Stein and Ingrid Stein, former handball player. Her daughter Emily Bölk also became a handball international.
