Biography

Carlos Aro boxed at the 1960 Roma Olympics, in the featherweight class. He came to Roma considered a medal contender as he had won gold at the 1959 Pan American Games in Chicago.

Aro turned pro after the Olympics and fought as a professional from 1961-72. His career record was 63 wins (21 by KO), 11 losses, and 10 draws, as he fought frequently. He won the Argentine lightweight title in 1967 and the South American lightweight title in 1968, holding them both until 1970.
