Biography

Jean-Pierre Giudicelli was a French modern pentathlete who competed at two Olympic Games. Giudicelli finished 37th in the individual event at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, which included a disastrous fencing performance where he came last. Despite his poor overall ranking, however, his individual score was enough to secure a bronze medal for France in the team event with compatriots Raoul Gueguen and Lucien Guiguet. Four years later at the 1972 München Olympics he finished 22nd in the individual competition and seventh in the team event. Giudicelli also served in the military and worked as a physical education teacher before becoming a successful coach in the sport.
