Dietloff Kapp finished 36th in the modern pentathlon at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and, as his team-mate Adolf Harder was disqualified in the riding event, the West German team was also disqualified. By profession, Kapp was a policeman and up to 1960 only policemen reasons in the Federal Republic of Germany participated in international modern pentathlon competitions.
