Biography

At the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, Konrad Miersch finished sixth in the modern pentathlon. He was also nominated for the free pistol shooting event but it did not take place in 1932. Miersch served with the police of the Weimar Republic and was coach of the Empire team of the Order Police. He was an active Waffen-SS-officer in the Third Reich and was killed-in-action in 1942 on the Eastern front. He was buried in the military cemetery in Sologubovka (Russia). Miersch’s son Ekkehard participated in the backstroke swimming event at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
