Biography

Günter Siegmund from East Berlin was the only German boxer at the 1960 Roma Olympics to win a medal. In the semifinal of the heavyweight class he lost against South African Daan Bekker, which brought him a bronze medal. One year later Siegmund won the same medal at the European Championships. In 1960 and 1961 he also won East German national titles.
