Biography

Bernd Wittenburg was a middleweight boxer who finished ninth at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. In 1975 and 1977 he won silver medals at the European Championships. From 1972-76 he also earned East German titles five times consecutively. Playing handball in his youth, Wittenburg later owned a camping ground and a small hotel at Rügen.
