Biography

After the end of World War II Jacques Maillet represented France at several international rowing competitions. In 1948 Maillet teamed up with Christian Guilbert in the double sculls at the London Olympics, with the pair reaching the semi-finals. One year later the duo won bronze in the same event at the European Rowing Championships in Amsterdam. In 1952 Maillet returned to the Olympics, this time with compatriot Achille Giovannoni, with them narrowly missing out on a medal in the double sculls when they finished fourth. Three years later Maillet and Raymond Salles won gold in the double sculls at the 1955 Mediterranean Games in Barcelona.
