Biography

Sabine Heß was the cox of the gold medal winning East German coxed fours at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. This was the first female rowing gold for East Germany. She also won the World Championships in 1977 with the coxed eights. That same year she won her only East German title, again with the eights. Heß later became a day-care worker in a pre-kindergarten.
