Biography

Rower Irina Müller was a member of the East German gold medal winning coxed eights at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. She won her first rowing title with the coxless pairs at the 1971 East German nationals. That same year, she won her first international medal, a bronze with the coxed fours at the European Championships, and then added a silver medal in 1973. European gold followed with the coxed eights in 1974 and the coxed fours in 1975.

Müller won East German national titles with the eights in 1971, 1974 and 1976, and with the coxed fours in 1975. She later graduated after studying law. Despite rumours that she worked with the Stasi (Ministry of State Security) in the former GDR, she later became a judge at the social court in Neuruppin.
