Biography

Roland Kostulski was a member of the East German gold medal winning coxed eights at the 1976 Montréal Summer Games. In 1971 he burst into the rowing scene by winning the Youth World Championship coxless fours. After some years with the coxless fours, and with different partners in the coxless pairs, he moved into the eights in 1975 and won the East German nationals, as well as the World Championships with this crew.

After his active rowing career, Kostulski became vice-president of his home club, SC DHfK Leipzig, and after re-unification, was CEO of the rowing department of his club. He was also responsible for the founding of the City Sports Association of Leipzig. In 2006, he was named CEO of the Saxony Gymnastics Federation.
