Biography

East German rower Roland Schröder won the gold medal with the coxless fours at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At World Championships, he won a silver medal with the eights in 1989 and a bronze in 1990. Also in 1990, he won the national title with the eights, having won the coxless fours national title in 1983. Schröder married his non-Olympic teammate Heike Winkler (DNS 1988) and sold large professional kitchens after re-unification.
