Biography

West German rower Hermann Greß finished sixth and last in the final of the coxed pairs at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics partnering Dieter Göpfert and Rudolf Ziegler. Greß won the national double sculls title in 1979, and in 1978 and 1980-82 also won with the coxed eights. In 1984, 1987-88 he won the national coxed pairs title with Göpfert. By profession, Greß became a masseur and worked with swimmers and water polo players at SV Würzburg eV.
