Biography

West German rower Dieter Göpfert finished sixth and last in the final of the coxed pairs at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics partnering Hermann Greß and Rudolf Ziegler. In 1978, 1981-82 Göpfert won three coxed eights national titles, and in 1984, 1987-88, three coxed pairs titles with Greß.

A trained secondary school teacher, Göpfert later worked for the Society for Technical Cooperation (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) on improving science teaching in Indonesian primary schools from 2009. Usually he taught directors and selected teachers to help pass on their knowledge.
