Biography

Manfred Klein competed at four Olympics in the rowing eights. As cox to the West German crew, they finished fifth in 1972, sixth in 1984, won the gold medal in 1988, and captured a bronze medal with the re-unified German team in 1992. At Barcelona Games, he was the German Flagbearer. Between 1979 and 1990, Klein won nine West German national titles. From 1989-91 he also won three World titles, all with the eights. By profession, he was an administrative official, employed by the Council of Berlin.
