Biography

German rower Roland Opfer finished sixth in the double sculls partnering Sebastian Mayer at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The same year the pair also won the German national title. In 1999, Opfer survived an earthquake at Taiwan where he was staying for an international university rowing competition. He studied mathematics.
