.During the second half of the 1930s Miklós Zágon got to know rowing when he was in high school before becoming an athlete of Pannonia EC. In 1941-1943 he won his first national championship titles with victory in the coxless pairs, coxless fours, and eights. When Pannonia was banned in 1948, he competed for the Duna Budapest Rowing Association, and a year later for Budapesti Vasas SC, winning championships in the coxless and coxed fours. Zágon won nine Hungarian championship titles. At the 1948 London Olympics he rowed in the coxed fours but was defeated in the semi-final and did not reach the final. At the 1952 Helsinki Games he reached the semi-finals in the eights from the preliminaries, but from there they failed to reach the final.
He stopped competing after the Helsinki Olympics, but for a short time he still took part in rowing. In 1955 he became a board member of the National Social Rowing Association. After graduating from high school he did not pursue higher studies, but started working as a clerk. In 1941 he became a factory clerk-trainee at the Municipal Burial Institute of Budapest, and then worked at this institute for a long time.
