Biography

Rower Raffaella Memo was a member of the Italy women’s coxed quadruple sculls that finished sixth at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. It was the first Italian women’s crew to compete at the Olympic Games. The previous year she was 11th overall in the single sculls at the World Championships in Duisburg, won by the eventual 1988 Olympic gold medal winner Jutta Behrendt of German Democratic Republic. Domestically, Memo won the Italian single sculls title twice, firstly on the Milano Idroscalo in 1982, and on Lake Piediluco the following year.
