India’s Sakti Mazumdar competed at the Ballygunge Boxing Institute in Kolkata and won two national titles in the flyweight division. Mazumdar fought in the flyweight tournament at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics where he finished in joint-ninth place. At the Games he won his first bout via a walkover against Nguyễn Văn Chùa before being eliminated by Han Su-An. After retiring from the ring Mazumdar became a successful coach and was bestowed with the Dronacharya Award.
