Biography

Jan Steinhauser was a Dutch rower who represented Nereus. Born in Nijmegen in 1944 Steinhauser studied at a law school in Amsterdam. Whilst there he became a member of the rowing team that went on to represent the Netherlands at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. After the Olympics Steinhauser went to work for De Nederlandsche Bank. In 1989 Steinhauser made a return to rowing when he became the chairman of the Royal Dutch Rowing Federation (KNRB). As the chairman Steinhauser attended the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Steinhauser retired from his role as chairman shortly thereafter but continued to row in veteran competitions.
