Zbigniew Żarnowiecki had a relatively brief rowing career, lasting from 1946 through 1952, but during that time he won a silver medal at the 1951 Academic World Championships in the coxless pairs. He also represented Poland in the coxless fours at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, placing fifth alongside Edward Schwarzer, Zbigniew Schwarzer, and Henryk Jagodziński. Domestically, he won seven Polish titles across various disciplines. Żarnowiecki received a masters’ degree in mechanical engineering from Wrocław University of Science and Technology and had a lengthy career in that field, although he also worked as a rowing instructor and administrator in his sport.
