Biography

Cindy Eckert rowed in college at the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1987 with a degree in physical therapy, and helping Wisconsin win the NCAA title in 1986 in the eight. She competed for the United State in the four at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1992. Eckert also competed at the World Championships in 1985-87, and 1990-91, winning a four silver medal, this time in 1991, and she won a second silver medal in the eight in 1990. Eckert also won three medals at the Lucerne International Regatta, a bronze in 1988 in the eight, and silvers in 1991-92 in the four.

Eckert married Jack Rusher, an Olympic rower in 1988 and 1992. They settled near Chicago, where Eckert-Rusher coached girls’ crew at New Trier High School.
