Biography

Dave Krmpotich rowed at the University of Wisconsin but was recruited in 1979 by Ted Nash to row for the Penn AC. That year he was an alternate to the US National Team that competed at the Pan American Games. Over the next decade Krmpotich rowed for the US internationally at almost every major meet. He won a gold medal in the eight at the 1986 Goodwill Games, and silver medals in the fours at the 1988 Olympics (fours without) and the 1991 Pan American Games (fours with). He competed at six World Championships, winning a bronze medal with the eight in 1986. He also rowed at the Worlds in 1981 and 1985 (pair without), 1982-83 (pair with), and 1987, in the coxed four.

In Philadelphia, Krmpotich served as President of the Penn AC Rowing Association for over 20 years, while coaching crew at Monsignor Bonner High School. In 2011 he was named Elite Coach for the Penn AC Boat Club.
