Al Lindley stroked the great Yale eight to the 1924 Olympic gold medal. Lindley spent three years at Yale on the varsity crew after having learned to row at Phillips Andover prep school. Lindley graduated from Yale in 1925 and became a lawyer. He was also an accomplished skier, ice hockey player and mountaineer. In the latter he was part of the team that became part of only the second group to successfully climb Mount McKinlay/Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.
