Biography

Piero Brandi was an Italian boxer. As an amateur he was a silver medalist at the 1959 European Championships in Lucerne, beaten by the Soviet Vladimir Engibaryan, a gold medalist in Melbourne, and in 1960 he was eliminated in the quarterfinals at the Roma Olympics.

Turning professional in April 1962, Brandi became Italian super-lightweight champion in September 1964, beating his great rival Sandro Lopopolo, but losing to him in a rematch in March 1965. In May 1966 Brandi challenged Willy Quatuor for the European title but lost by knock-out in round eight. Brandi finished his pro career with a record of 33 wins (10 by KO), 5 losses (4 by KO) and 2 draws.
