Biography

Gunther Danne claimed five medals at sports shooting World Championships. He won silver medals with the West German running target teams in 1974, in 1978 he also won in the individual event and the mixed events. He also won a team bronze medal in 1975. His greatest moment came winning the gold medal with the running target team in 1978. In 1969, he added a team bronze at the Europeans.

In West Germany Danne earned six national titles between 1968 and 1991. He also set one world record in the running target in 1974 and was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1979, Germany’s highest sports award. At the 1972 München Olympics, he finished seventh in the running target event.
